What exactly is Gout?
What is gout? Gout is caused by a build up of Uric Acid which crystallises in the joints, effective a form of arthritis. As the result a joint (or joints) become inflamed and painful. Visual indicators are of the affected joint becoming hot, red and swollen. Gout may only appear in one joint at a time (commonly the big toe) but it can and does impact other parts of the foot as well as hands, wrists, elbows and knees.
